The first step in the process is a consultation with our client. We receive a sofa, and we sit down with its owner and talk about the furniture redesign that our customer hopes to achieve. We ask our clients about their preferences in color, size, and textiles, because all those elements are in our toolbox – we can alter them to achieve just about any look that our clients desire. Once we had a clear idea of what our client wanted, we drew up an artist’s sketch for our customer to approve, to make sure that our client would get exactly the look that they wanted. We also selected a fabric and color that matched our customer’s goal of achieving a more modern look, and matching other existing pieces in their home. DR. Before and After Couch Makeover: Transforming Your Living Space with Style
Next, we drew up a plan to determine which parts of the existing couch we could upcycle and use again, and which would need to be changed to achieve the desired result. We disassembled the piece of furniture as part of this process. Disassembly showed us which parts were still usable, and which were in need of repair or alteration.
Once we had redesigned and rebuilt the sofa, we began the process of reupholstery with a smart new fabric. The result was nothing short of amazing. What was once a dark, shapeless leftover from the ‘90s is now a sleek monochrome sofa that looks as if it came straight from a designer show room. The look is modern, sophisticated and versatile. This neutral, solid color and streamlined design will easily meet the owner’s goals of a piece that harmonizes with existing furniture. We delivered the piece to the owner, who was delighted – another happy ending!
